PREVIOUS YEARS
The Academic Team, was a newly formed team in school year (SY 2011-2012) and completed in Level II of the JROTC Leadership Academic Bowl (JLAB)Competition in early February.
TEAM MEMBERS:
LET 6's: 2LT William Chalk, SFC Torrey Sales; LET 4's: SSG Aqala Williams; SGT Keyana Carr, 2LT DaVaughn Hambright, MSG Janis Redding;
LET 2's: SGT Kauri Royal, CPL Aaliyah Casteel, CPL Victor Blackwell, CPL Jermaine Green. The top twenty-four teams from the Academic winners and top 40 from the Leadership winners will qualify for the Championship competition and travel to Washington, D.C. this summer, June 22-26.
WE are proud & honored to annouce that our Leadership Team recently qualified among the top forty teams for the JLAB finals to be held at George Mason University in Washington, DC. this summer for the championship competition. What an awesome opportunity for our cadets!!!! Great JOB and success to the team in Washington, DC.
On Mar 2, 2012, the team participated in 'READ ACROSS AMERICA' at Orchard Knob Elementary School. Cadets read to students in 30-minute intervals from 8:30 AM - 11:30 PM. In addition to our cadets, other community members including Senator Andy Berke, members of the Pilgrim Baptist Church along with students from UTC, Silverdale Academy, Boyd Buchanan, and Notre Dame participated as well. This was a nationwide endeavor honoring Dr. Seuss' birthday while promoting reading literacy across all grade levels. Cadets participating were: 1LT William Chalk, CPT Janis Redding, 1LT DaVaughn Hambright, 1SG Torrey Sales, SSG Keyana Carr, SSG Jermaine Green, and SSG Kauri Royal.
